- There was an opening remark from some Sony high up (Think his name was Brewer, sorry for not catching the rest) about how this summer is great for them and that trend continues with their development slate going to 2011, which will have the next SPIDER-MAN movie as well as a new MEN IN BLACK film and GHOSTBUSTERS. So, MiB is pretty new news and it’s good to hear they’re still behind GHOSTBUSTERS.

Apparently the ShoWest Sony presentation just ended out in Las Vegas with the announcement that the studio would be returning to the very successful Men in Black franchise for a third installment to hit theaters in 2011. According to reports at Collider and JoBlo, there were no further announcements as far as cast and release date, however Sony probably wouldn't launch another Men in Black film without at least Will Smith's participation. Will Tommy Lee Jones reprise his role, too, or will Smith get himself a new partner in crime? Will it go 3D? IMAX? Sadly, these questions were not answered. Aside from Men in Black 3, Sony also confirmed that they're working on Spider-Man 4 and Ghostbusters 3, which is news we've already known for quite some time now.

The Men in Black stuff is brand new, though, and if they do hold it for summer 2011, they'll be going up against some mega competition from Avengers, Harry Potter and Spider-Man. Unfortunately, Sony did not talk more about the next Spider-Man sequel, either revealing its cast or villains or production schedule. All we have regarding Spidey right now is its May 6, 2011 release date.

What???? I wish they leave it alone. They messed up part 2. I didn't like it. part 1 was the best. I was totally bored with part 2. If their is a 3rd in the makes. I hope they make it awhole lot better than MIB2.

If they really wanna make MIIIB they should at least wait 20 years after MIIB. lol
The sequel was made 5 years later after the first one just like GB, since MIB was the reason that GBIII wasn't made in the 90's it's now payback time that MIIIB gets delayed for at least 15 years, just kidding

I don't think it really gonna work if they making GBIII and MIIIB at the same time, like MIB probably worked better in the 90's because aliens were more popular then, but since now there a lot of 80's stuff coming back GB works better now then MIB.

i agree wit that though, but i personally think that Ghosts and Ghostbusting hasnt died yet, young adults as us, from 18 to well say 30 grew up Lovin GB and it didnt and wuldnt ever die with in us therefore GB is very much still alive, i mean Aliens are pretty cool and MIB and MIIB were great movies and Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith are a comedic twosome, GB has a Comedic 4some and the 80s effects for GB was AWSOME, GB 2 was AWSOME just imagine how the effcted today would blow MIB and MIIB outa fuckin loop and postpone MIIIB

Men in Black 3 is Moving Forward

Columbia Pictures has hired Tropic Thunder writer Etan Cohen to pen the script for Men in Black 3.

There are no deals yet in place for franchise director Barry Sonnenfeld and stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones to return.

The studio is looking to start filming the third installment in 2010, perhaps as early as the spring.

The first two films combined to earn nearly $1.1 billion worldwide.
