| Bigger Part for Bruce Campbell in Spider-Man 4? At the premiere for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs on Saturday, Bruce Campbell told Access Hollywood that Spider-Man 4 will start shooting in January 2010 and that he'll have a larger part: The actor, who has a long relationship with director Sam Raimi via his lead role in the "Evil Dead" trilogy, made memorable cameos in the first three "Spider-Man" films. However, he may have a bigger role this time around. Bruce told Access that in the next installment in the superhero franchise, he’s been told he has a major part – but didn’t yet know anything about his character. Columbia Pictures has scheduled the fourth installment for a May 6, 2011 release. |

| Sony Moves Ahead with Spider-Man Spin-off VenomSci-Fi Wire recently found out that Sony is moving ahead with its proposed Venom spin-off, which will follow the adventures of Spider-Man's most popular nemesis. Zombieland co-writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick were hired to write the screenplay. In a recent interview, Wernick confirmed to Sci-Fi Wire that a draft of the film had recently been turned into Sony. The writer stated, "We've written two drafts of Venom, and the studio has it, and they're pushing forward in whatever ways they push forward." When will the film go into production? Wernick said, "We're not sure, [but] we've turned in our two drafts." Will it have anything to do with the upcoming Spider-Man 4? "We can't really talk about that, unfortunately. Basically, the studio and Marvel and the Arads are taking our drafts and going beyond and figuring out what's the next step." |

| Spider-Man 4 Set to Start Shooting in March 2010If all goes according to plan, a superhero sequel will aim to start shooting in March. spoke with Spider-Man 4 director Sam Raimi who revealed that filming should start in March 2010. Here's an excerpt from the site's article. "We're hoping that it's the first week in March," said Raimi. At the moment, pre-production is in full swing, even as screenwriter Gary Ross ("great director and a very fine writer," said Raimi) continues to work on the script. "He's working on a draft," he continued. "I just gave him some notes and he's doing a rewrite right now." |

| Sam Raimi on the Spider-Man 4 Villain
While he naturally wouldn't reveal who the villain is in Spider-Man 4, director Sam Raimi told MTV what their thinking is behind the villain they will choose:
"What we're trying to do right now is really understand the journey Peter is going to go on this time and have the villain maybe be a counter to that growth, something that he has to overcome," Raimi said. "Or maybe he has to grow in a way to overcome the villain, because there always seem to be stories of coming of age, of a young man growing up and learning things about life, so once we are identifying the exact movement that Peter has to grow to, I think the villain—and we're trying this right now; we're trying to choose a villain based on who would be the proper counter to that growth, so we really have dramatic conflict."
You can check out the full interview here. Spider-Man 4 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2011. |

| Sam Raimi to 'Get Back to Basics' with Spider-Man 4Director Sam Raimi has certainly heard the fan's concern's over his last superhero film, and vows to make the fourth film even better. Coventry Telegraph recently spoke with Raimi who revealed his approach to Spider-Man 4, using a more simplistic approach that he learned on his last film, Drag Me to Hell. "I think I've learned about the importance of getting to the point and the importance of having limitations, and I'm hoping to take that into a production where I'm actually allowed to explore with more of the tools to pull it off with a little more splendour. "I hope I don't lose that edge that I've just found. That would be my approach to Spider-Man 4: to get back to the basics." When asked about the criticism of Spider-Man 3 and the multiple villains in the film, Raimi said he agreed. "I think having so many villains detracted from the experience. I would agree with the criticism." |

| Dylan Baker Returning for Spider-Man 4UGO reports that Dylan Baker confirmed last night at a Trick 'r Treat screening in New York that he'll be back as Dr. Curt Connors in director Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 4. There's been a lot of speculation that Connors will finally become The Lizard in the fourth installment, but Baker said that he had just gotten his first call about the film that very day. The site says that Trick 'r Treat director Michael Dougherty ribbed him about "just appearing in the background," and Baker said that's what he'd be doing. It is, of course, unknown if Baker can say anything at this point, so it might be too early to take that as a fact. Columbia Pictures is planning a May 5, 2011 release in conventional and IMAX theaters. |
