Sam Raimi Wants Morbius in Spider-Man 4



Sam Raimi revealed his pick for the villain for Spider-Man 4 in the latest issue of Empire Magazine.

“I like it in the Marvel comics when Spider-Man fights Morbius,” said Raimi. “He’s really cool. A vampire! I like that combination of superhero plus supernatural.”

As /Film reader Christopher M (who submitted the story) points out, it might make sense to use him along with The Lizard since both characters “use the same technology but have different animals involved in their research… one having blended with a lizard the other a vampire bat.” What do you think?

They are gonna do Morbius just cuz all of fictional entertainment is on a vamp kick right now. And if they do Carnage for gods sake do it better justice than Venom was given.

‘Spider-Man 4’ To Begin Shooting In 2010, Says Bugle Chief

The fourth film in the blockbuster “Spider-Man” franchise will begin shooting in 2010, actor J.K. Simmons told MTV News at Sundance, revealing that he’ll continue in the role of Daily Bugle publisher J. Jonah Jameson. “I saw Sam [Raimi] at his Christmas party.”

The news appears to confirm earlier reports that Sony was looking towards a May 2011 release.

Both Sam Raimi and Tobey Mcguire are expected to return, but have yet to formally commit. Kirsten Dunst is also up in the air, although the actress has voiced her willingness to continue as Peter Parker’s love interest.

Given the blowhard, fast-talking nature of his character, you’d think Simmons would be lobbying for more screen time, but according to the actor, the status quo is fine with him.

“We’ve definitely brainstormed ideas for Triple-J, but I have no desire to make Triple-J more of the focus of those movies,” he said. “The amount that I did in 1, 2 and 3, is just exactly right. Like be the wolf. Come in, blow in, do a week, blow out, be the comic relief, and hit the road. And let Tobey and everybody else do the heavy lifting.”

MTV chatted with Spider-Man 4 director Sam Raimi on Sunday who just announced a release date of May 6, 2011 for the project last week.

Raimi confirmed that he and "the writers and producers are working out what the story will be, but haven't been talking in terms of Part 4 and 5." He also stated that they are only working on the 4th film, and contrary to rumors, not the 5th film.

"All the characters or villains or villains, whatever we decide to do will be from Stan Lee's creations or those that came after him," he said.

He also commented on whether or not Kirsten Dunst will return as Mary Jane Watson. Raimi said, "I can't imagine making a 'Spider-Man' movie without Kirsten. Of course it can be done because Spider Man has existed without the character of Mary-Jane but she's one of my favorite parts and it would be a shame not to have her in the picture. I'm hoping she'll be in it and I'm planning on having a story with her in it."

The NY Post recently sat down with producer Todd Black to talk about recent rumors surrounding the pre-production decisions behind Spider-Man 4, which is set for release on May 6th, 2011. Although he didn't reveal much, the producer did confirm that actress Kirsten Dunst will absolutely be back for the 4th installment of the franchise.

- Kirsten Dunst is definitely on board. Last month, director Sam Raimi
was quoted as saying he didn't know if the actor was going to sign up
to play Mary Jane again, but it appears that she has.

- Contrary to online rumors, it doesn't look like the script will feature
a wedding between Mary Jane and Peter Parker. Black had no knowledge of
that subplot.

- Also contrary to online rumors (but really, are
there any other kind?), the villain will not be Morbius the vampire.
Sure, vampires are hot, but Black squashed that rumor completely.

- As for who the villain will be, Black had this to say: "We're just
coming up with who the villain's going to be now. We'll be shooting in
New York again. Trust me, people will appreciate who we pick, because
it'll be a big part of New York."

Black also confirmed that the
villain will be one of Spidey's foes from the comic, not a character
invented for the film. And we can assume it'll be one of the hero's
classic rogues. Just four movies in, the producers won't be resorting
to B-listers.

well thats a good sign, No Morbius, i like that, now, lets just hope its Carnage or maybe even King Pin will have a larger part as bad guy in it? maybe they will put him as Micheal Clarke Duncan like in Dare Devil? lol

Yeah Doctor Conners becomes the lizard man. Ive been expecting him to turn after 2 but they put out that gay version of Venom.

But didn't I read somewhere that Doctor Conners used the symbiote that Peter Parker gave him in Spider-man 3 in a experiment that made him the lizard?
So it would be perfect for Spider-man 4 to see this experiment.
