Terminator Salvation Rumors Cleared Up

1) The ending posted on Ain’t It Cool News is a fake

Remember the leaked ending that hit Ain’t It Cool News five months ago? The one that claimed the climax would see John Connor die, only to be resurrected as a robot?

It isn’t the ending (thank goodness) but the geeks didn't pluck it from the clear blue Skynet, either. “That is not the ending. John Connor is not the machine. We did discuss that idea, but that is not the ending, I can say that right now.”

2) James Cameron did not give McG his blessing

There’s been a lot of net chatter about McG’s Comic Con claims that James Cameron gave his blessing for Terminator Salvation’s creation. Well, it seems McG may have misquoted himself. We gave him the opportunity to set the record straight.

“I did go to see James Cameron. He didn’t give us his blessing, but he didn’t shit all over our movie. When Jim was making Alien, he was following the great Ridley Scott, so he knows how we feel.”

3) Christian Bale did have doubts about signing up

When Christian Bale was at the rumour stage for TS you couldn’t move for fanboys claiming he'd never sign up for another franchise. It seems that he nearly didn’t.

“I met Christian when he was shooting The Dark Knight. He told me to fuck right off, he didn’t want to do it. He said, 'Write it so that it could be read cold on stage and I’ll think about doing it.'”

Of all the rumours McG busted for us, this was one of the most exciting - if that really was Bale's ultimatum, we've got high hopes for this script.

4) Arnie will appear… probably

When shots of Arnie hanging out on the Salvation set were shoved into all of our computers, the internet exploded with rumour. Was Schwarzenegger there to film a cameo? Give his blessing? Try and get a cut of the profits?

Well, we’d bet our Terminator 2 action figure collection that we know the real reason. He was there to get motion captured for his all CGI debut as the T800.

“We’re trying to synthesise a human character with a CGI character and that may or may not have something to do with the T800,” McG told us with a smile.

The process isn’t without its problems, though. McG isn’t happy with ILM’s work so far... “At the moment it’s not good enough,” he said. “And we’re running out of time.”

Yeah, but if you saw the video some while ago he was on the T4 set so there is still a chance he has a cameo appearance in the movie.

Terminator 5 in the Works!

Halcyon Co. heads Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek have confirmed they are developing a fifth installment in the Terminator franchise.

According to Variety, director McG, who directed the upcoming fourth film, Terminator Salvation, is working with the Halcyon duo on the latest project.

Announcement was among the news that came out of the Dubai Intl. Film Festival, which bowed Dec. 11 and runs through Thursday.

McG was in Dubai for the announcement, despite his well-known fear of flying, which led to him dropping out of the Oz-shot Superman Returns. He mentioned that incident in remarks during the announcement.

No decision has been made as to where to film the next Terminator, although the Middle East was mentioned as a locale.

When Anderson and Kubicek acquired the rights the lucrative Terminator franchise last year from previous owners C2, the former ad exec and banker envisaged the re-booted series as a trilogy. Christian Bale has signed on in the role of John Connor for all three roles. Newest pic is tentatively scheduled for a 2011 release.

I don't see how they are making this movie without Arnold. I was hoping they would have made it after he left office. I really don't know if I want to see it. If he's not going to be in it.

At least they didn't screw up GB yet, I wouldn't be surprised if GBIII was made with the original cast and became a huge success they will make more GB movies without the original cast and going straight-to-DVD. lol

Yeah, Arnold probably have no rights of the Terminator franchise so they can do everything with the Terminator franchise without him.
I never understand why James Cameron has no rights of the Terminator franchise anymore.

Good point.. I totally agree. James cameron created it all. Why doesn't he have rights to the franchise? It doesn't seem right. And it's going to be weird that Arnold won't have the leading role like he did in the previous films. Hard to picture this movie being as good as the first 3 with no Arnold.
