TRON: LEGACY the official title of the sequel. From Jeff
Bridges: "It's basically a story about a son's search for his father.
The first TRON... when we made that in '81 there was no internet. Cell
phones were these big things you carried around in a suitcase! So what
you saw was so new and fresh... I can guarantee you'll get the same
kind of pop with this one!"
Now here's pics of TRON art!

Tron: Legacy is Coming Dec. 17, 2010

Walt Disney Pictures has set a December 17, 2010 release date for Tron Legacy. The move puts the highly-anticipated film up against Sony's The Green Hornet and The Smurfs, as well as Warner Bros.' Yogi Bear (We assume at least "Smurfs" will move, since that's two Sony releases on the same date.)

Tron Legacy is directed by Joseph Kosinski and stars Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner, James Frain, Beau Garrett and Michael Sheen.

In the 3D adventure, Sam Flynn (Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Bridges), looks into his father's disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin's loyal confidant (Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

Olivia is Wilde About Tron!

While in New York to discuss her new indie drama Fix, Olivia Wilde of Fox's hit show "House" gave us her thoughts on completing the long-awaited sequel Tron Legacy.

CS: Now that the shooting of "Tron Legacy" is complete, how do you feel about the experience?

Olivia Wilde: It was completely wild and amazing, and I really felt like I had given birth to a 19-pound baby when it was done. (laughs)

CS: How so?

Wilde: That it was, like, the most difficult thing I've ever done. We shot some 20-hour days, we were wearing the suits, which are not easy to wear. I was doing a lot of my own stunts and training a lot of the time. Really pushing myself physically as well as mentally. It was an epic undertaking. It was a HUGE film to shoot in those few days. I was so proud to be a part of it. The morning that we wrapped it was an unbelievable feeling. We all just lost it. It was sunrise and we couldn't believe we were actually done.

CS: Despite the 28-year gap between installments, "Tron" is a franchise. If "Legacy" is successful would you want a return voyage to part three?

Wilde: Oh, of course! If we were so lucky that would be incredible. There are so many more stories to tell within that world.

CS: In hindsight do you feel like you were prepared for such a mammoth production?

Wilde: You know, no matter how many people tell you it's going to be the hardest thing you've ever done you still aren't aware, or capable of being of aware, of what goes into one of those movies. Now I have so much more empathy and respect for the people who've done it before me... and after. I don't write-off large sci-fi films so flippantly as I did. I look at anyone who's had to put on a rubber suit and I'm, like, "Oh wow, you're awesome! You survived!" (laughs) None of the suits are like our suits, though. Our suits have really risen to a new level of discomfort, but it's brilliant and well worth it. It's totally worth it.

Look for more of our exclusive interview with Olivia Wilde in November when Fix is scheduled for a limited release!

Tron Legacy is currently in post-production and will be released by Disney on December 17, 2010.
