'Ghostbusters 3' to avoid 'Indy' problems
Harold Ramis has said that he is hoping the new Ghostbusters movie will avoid the problems of last summer's Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.
Ramis, who starred as Egon Spengler and co-wrote the first two movies with Dan Aykroyd, told Movieline that he does not want to disappoint fans of the popular franchise.
"The Star Trek reinvention worked great because they were able to project back in time," Ramis said. "We're not going to tell an origin story of who the Ghostbusters were before you met them in the first movie.
"But I would hate to do Indiana Jones And The Crystal Skull. It didn't seem like there was a lot new going on there - just more of the same and not as interesting."
The 64-year-old refused to comment on speculation about new cast members, but said that Michael Cera and Seth Rogen "would be great" as younger spook hunters.
It's been twenty years since the last Ghostbusters sequel - twenty-five since the original.
And for every passing year, talks and rumors abound that we haven't seen the last of the beloved film franchise.
According to IMDB, Ghostbusters 3 is now on track. But the cast and crew behind it are "patiently waiting" for the script to be polished.
According to Ghostbusters writer/actor Harold Ramis, certain objectives must be met in order for the film to be made. Key among such principles is a commitment to comedy above CGI.
"We won't be going super high-tech. What made the original Ghostbusters funny was sorta the low-tech aspect of it," says Ramis. "It's got to be about character, and secondly, the pseudo-science of it - the made-up gadgets and the fake mythology."
Dan Aykroyd on Ghostbusters 3 and Bill Murray's involvement:
"I don't put not making the third movie on Billy. We can't do that. I've been very busy. Harold's been busy, Ivan's been busy. And a third script really didn't coalesce properly. And Billy, you can't blame an artist for not wanting to do the same thing again. He did two of them, for God's sake. Although I'm the biggest cheerleader as the originator of the concept but I've never begrudged Billy not doing a third movie. I never said he held it up or that he refused. Hey, listen, he's an artist. You can't force somebody into it. I'm sorry he never read my third draft because I thought it was pretty good but, look, now we're at a point that there's a story that he can accept and that's going to work, and I think we're going to be in production fairly soon. We could be in production by winter." - La Times Blogs

Reitman Mulls Over 'Ghostbusters 3' Offer
Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman is considering returning to direct the long-awaited third installment of the spooky movie franchise.
Original stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson are returning to the big screen for a second sequel -- a full 20 years after Ghostbusters II.
Reitman, who directed the first two films, has been offered the chance to complete the trilogy -- but is waiting until he reads the script before he commits.
He tells MTV News, "I've never ruled (directing it) out. I certainly was responsible in every capacity for the first two movies so I certainly wouldn't wander away from the third one -- especially if it's something we all think is worth doing.
"The script is going to be turned in a month or so and we'll see. All the casting and directing speculation is really just speculation."

I think Ivan Reitman will direct GBIII, he would be very stupid not doing it, knowing it is the most popular sequel demand these days and the video game being a huge success he should know GBIII is gonna be huge.
Hopefully MR can also still make the proton pack and ghost trap replicas when GBIII comes out.

Dude Yehome, we are close, and Yes Ghost the game brought HUGE success to the franchise. Rietman would be a total retard not to do it. The Only thing that i have a problem with is the OGBs are way to old and fat to be making the movie based directly after the game in 91. SO, but Yes Close we are
