New Ghostbusters Movie Closer Than We Think?

We just heard what might possibly be one of the coolest rumors to come across our virtual desk in a long time. This information comes from a very reliable source who cannot, at this point, be named, but they are telling us that a new Ghostbusters film may be happening sooner than we all think.
According to our source all four Ghostbusters -- Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson -- have agreed to return to the ranchise. A few years ago that would have been downright unbelievable, but considering they all just got back into their roles for the Ghostbusters videogame, it’s more than plausible that they’d do it on-camera one more time.
Now here’s the really interesting part; though not much is known about the plot, apparently the ‘Busters will be handing over their proton packs to Seth Rogan and the crew from 40 Year Old Virgin!
Some may roll their eyes at this, but think about it; these guys are doing the same thing Murray, Ramis, Ivan Reitman, John Candy and their whole crew did back in the 80’s, churning out comedy after comedy, so it makes sense they’d take over these reins as well.
Of course all of it hinges on a budget, classic Hollywood story, but hopefully there’s a studio out there smart enough to know that the fans want at least one more Ghostbusters movie (hell, if done right, possibly a new franchise) and make this sucker happen.

This is very interesting news. If the game is turns out to be really good. I think it's possible that a movie would come forward. But that's just speculation. I just hope if they make a 3rd one. They will keep the 80s spirit that the first two had. Smile

Rudd Dismisses Ghostbusters Rumours

Actor Paul Rudd has dismissed speculation he is to star in a remake of movie classic Ghostbusters - insisting it is just a rumour.

Rudd was reported to have signed up for a new version of the 1984 sci-fi comedy along with Seth Rogen and Steve Carell.

But the Clueless star insists that although he is a big fan of the original film, he hasn't been asked to be in a possible remake.

He tells MTV.com, "I've heard this rumour. A couple of days ago somebody asked me that, and that was the first I'd heard about it. It's incredibly flattering to be in a rumour. I would do it in a second with those guys. But do you think it's a good idea to redo Ghostbusters? It's a classic."

I always like the cartoon version of the filmation ghostbusters, never saw the series from the 70's but still if they made a live action movie from the cartoons it could be a entertainment movie, look at this intro from the cartoons, still love it:

"Dawg" almost hit the nail on the head right there. If its going to happen Dan and Harold better have total creative control over the whole damn thing. CGI i oculd live with, live action....has anyone seen Harold Ramis recently, I dont know about you guys but I wouldnt like to see him in a khaki jumpsuit.

if they make it in CGI i can see it being targeted towards younger viewers, with the adults being dragged along and hating it while the whole way through they just wanna watch the original.

if they make it in live action with the originalk actors it will be a laughing stock. the simple fact is that the character peter venkman would NOT still be busting ghosts now, he'd be living it up in some hot tub with a younger girl.

and NOONE can be the ghosbusters but dan bill harold and ernie.

why do so many people feel the need to have an extension added to a classic film/s?

just a general question really but...what about a reboot? I mean look at Casino Royale, Batman Begins, and the new Star Trek Movie coming out next year. A bunch of new actors playing the same characters from the franchise...wait...didn't protoncharging do a poll as to which actors/actresses could replace the old cast? Either way. Just a thought and/or question. Very Happy

true, bond and batman have done well, but they are extremely long running frnachises.. bonds first movie was in 1962, and first appeared as a book in 1952. batman has been around since the 40s.
