| Released on June 8th, 1984, the comedy classic "Ghostbusters" was a smash hit that grossed over $500 million (adjusted for inflation) and was nominated for two Academy Awards (best special effects and best song). It has spawned one sequel -- and another one is reportedly on the way -- a cartoon, a new video game ( which the Daily News gives 4 stars) and plenty else. After 25 years, everyone still knows who to call when something "doesn't look good in your neighborhood," but do you know what the actors behind your favorite "Ghostbusters" characters are up to? Bill Murray played the wise-cracking, skirt-chasing Dr. Peter Venkman. Murray's been no stranger to box-office success and critical acclaim, starring in comedy classics like "Groundhog Day" and "Rushmore" and cash cows "Charlie's Angels" and "Garfield." He was nominated for an Academy Award in 2004 for his doe-eyed turn in "Lost in Translation," a film which introduced Murray as a serious actor and Scarlett Johansson, as a real star in her own right.
In 2008, Murray's personal life became tabloid fodder when his wife of 11 years, Jennifer Murray, filed for divorce. She accused him of being a drug-addicted spousal abuser and serial adulterer. Murray would later call the separation "devastating." He most recently starred in Jim Jarmusch's "The Limits of Control." Credit: Columbia Pictures; Boyles/Getty Not only did Dan Aykroyd star in the "Ghostbusters" films as Dr. Raymond Stantz, he, along with Harold Ramis, wrote the original script. A comedy veteran with range (he was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in "Driving Miss Daisy), Aykroyd most recently appeared on "The World According to Jim" (which stars friend Jim Belushi) and as the vice president in 2008's "War, Inc."
These days he's busiest outside of Hollywood pushing his own brand of vodka, Crystal Head Vodka, with an accompanying reality TV show. Credit: Columbia Pictures; To/FilmMagic
While "Ghostbusters" fans will remember Harold Ramis as the awkward Dr. Egon Spengler, Hollywood and history will most likely remember Ramis not for his acting, but for his directing. He was at the helm for comedies "Grounghog Day" (1993) and "Analyze This" (1999), not to mention "Caddyshack" (1980) and "Vacation" (1983), both of which came out before "Ghostbusters." His latest film, "Year One" starring Jack Black and Michael Cera, comes out Friday, June 19th. Credit: Columbia Pictures; Merritt/Getty As Winston Zeddmore, Ernie Hudson, star of stage of screen whose acting resume is as long as his arm, was the last of the original "Ghostbusters" to join the team -- he just answered an ad in the paper. Coincidentally, the part of Winston was originally supposed to go to Eddie Murphy. Apparently, he was lucky both on and off screen.
Hudson is currently starring on Broadway in August Wilson's "Joe Turner's Come and Gone," the play Barack and Michelle Obama enjoyed during their New York City date night. Credit: Columbia Pictures; Walker/Getty |

Nobody looks better possessed than Sigourney Weaver, the actress who played Dana Barrett, aka Zuul the Keymaster. Weaver is as beautiful today as she was 25 years ago, but its her voice that's been getting equal billing these days: She was the narrator in the "The Tale of Despereaux" and supplied the voice for the ship's computer in "WALL-E." As for when you can see her lovely face again, the "Alien" star will return to her sci-fi roots in James Cameron's "Avatar," out in December. Credit: Columbia Pictures; Samad/Getty Comedian Rick Moranis, who played the lovable loser Louis Tully in both "Ghostbusters," retired from acting to raise his kids. The "SCTV" alum and star of "The Little Shop of Horrors" and "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" now writes country music as a hobby. He released "The Agoraphobic Cowboy" in 2005. Credit: Columbia Pictures; McCarthy/WireImage While Annie Potts has since gone on to star in a plethora of TV shows and movies, she will always be known as Janine Melnitz, the bubble-gum chewing receptionist who falls in love with Moranis' Tully. While you could have caught her recently on an episode of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," she's working on a CBS comedy pilot from "Malcolm in the Middle" creator Linwood Boomber called, "The Karenskys." Keep your fingers crossed!
Credit: Columbia Pictures; Gallay/Getty William Atherton, the pesky EPA representative Walter Peck whose shutting down of the "Ghostbusters" reactor leads to the showdown with Gozer, has bounced around from TV to movies, perhaps most famously appearing as a self-absorbed reporter Dick Thornburg in the "Die Hard" movies. His most recent gig was on TV's "Life." Credit: Columbia Pictures; Bowers/Getty |

| Slavitza Jovan, a Serbian model, played the ancient deity Gozer (who bore an unccany resemblance to David Bowie in his "Ziggy Stardust" days). 15 years later, with few credits in between, she would play the twisted nurse in "House on Haunted Hill."

Inside the firehouse, there is reportedly a "Ghostbusters" sign and photos taken with the cast and crew. According to IMDB, matte paintings and models were used to make the building look like it had more floors. The building still stands today. Credit: Columbia Pictures; (cc) David Shankbone |

One tends to know when one is watching a movie starring porn star Ron Jeremy, but it's likely you didn't know he was in "Ghostbusters" -- as an extra, of course. While Jeremy isn't making x-rated pics anymore, he's keeping busy by opening a swingers club in Portland, OR, in late June. Credit: Columbia Pictures; Edwards/Getty '80's pop star Debbie Gibson played another notable extra. Can you spot her? She was celebrating her birthday at Central Park's Tavern on the Green when Louis Tully is mauled by one of Gozer's minions. Gibson recently starred along side Lorenzo Lamas as a marine biologist in "Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus," straight-to-DVD monster faceoff. Credit: Columbia Pictures; Rose/WireImage Ivan Reitman, who directed both "Ghostbusters" movies and provided the voice for Zuul and Slimer, has directed a handful of movies since the smash hit, including "Kindergarten Cop," "Dave," and "My Super Ex-Girlfriend," which was the last film he helmed. Lately, the Hollywood macher has been amping up his producing credits. He was most recently the executive producer of the bromance comedy, "I Love You, Man." He's expressed interest in directing the third "Ghostbusters," but as of yet, has not signed on.

| Reitman's son Jason, who made a brief appearance in "Ghostbusters II," is an accomplished director in his own right, having lensed the critically acclaimed comedies "Thank You for Smoking" and "Juno," for which he was nominated for an Academy Award. He hopes to have his latest, "Up in the Air," starring George Clooney, ready for a premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September. Credit: Columbia Pictures; Shearer/WireImage Ivan Reitman's daughter Catherine also made a cameo in "Ghostbusters II," as a little girl involved in one of Egon's cruel experiments (that puppy was taken away). She is still an actress, starring most recently in "I Love You, Man," as one of Rashida Jones' character's friends.
Credit: Columbia Pictures; Rodriguez/Getty Veteran character actor Peter Macnicol, who played Dr. Janosz Poha, Dana Barrett's boss and Vigo's henchman, has been on numerous television shows, including "24" and "Ally McBeal." His most recent role is that of physicist Dr. Larry Fleinhardt on "NUMB3RS." Credit: Columbia Pictures; Lipson/CBS The acting career of Wilhelm von Huomburg, who got his start as a wrestler in the '50's, was in its decline when he starred in "Ghostbusters II." After portraying the villainous Vigo, who terrorized the city with his evil goo from a painting inside of a museum (crazy!), he would act in a handful of horror films, including "In the Mouth of Madness," before his death in 2004. R&B sensation Bobby Brown may have been relegated to a doorman in "Ghostbusters II," but his song "On Our Own" takes center stage during the dramatic fight sequence. Sadly, Brown's private life makes bigger headlines than his music these days. After a turbulent turn on reality TV show "Being Bobby Brown" with wife singer Whitney Houston, the two have divorced. He and his girlfriend of 3 years Alicia Etheridge just welcomed a new baby boy. Credit: Columbia Pictures; Sayles/AP CNN interviewer Larry King makes a brief cameo in "Ghostbusters." King, who had his youngest son, Cannon, at 66, just released his memoirs, "My Remarkable Journey," in which he revealed he has a secret son, 47-year-old Larry King Jr. Credit: Columbia Pictures; Pimentel/WireImage
Ben Stein, who plays an adviser to the mayor in "Ghostbusters II," has had a successful and long acting career. While he's probably best known as the monotone teacher in "Ferris Bueller," his game show "Win Ben Stein's money" ran for 5 years from 1997-2002. He currently stars along side Shaquille O'Neal in some amusing Comcast commercials. Credit: Columbia Pictures; Gallay/Getty Brother of Bill Murray, Brian Doyle-Murray, who plays a psychiatrist in "Ghostbusters II," has capitalized on his gravelly voice, doing work for cartoons "SpongeBob SquarePants," "The Goode Family," and "The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack." Blink and you'd miss him, but Cheech Marin pops up in "Ghostbusters II" just as the Titanic docks in Manhattan. After almost 30 years apart, Marin recently reuinted with comedy partner Tommy Chong for a tour they're calling, "Light Up America." Credit: Columbia Pictures; Brown/Getty Harris Yulin, who played ornery Judge Stephen 'The Hammer' Wexler, has been acting since 1970 -- and shows no signs of stopping. The 71-year-old actor last appeared on an episode of "Damages" and is currently directing a new production of "The Glass Menagerie" at Long Island's John Drew Theatre at Guild Hall. Credit: Columbia Pictures; Wintrow/Getty If your itching to see character actor Kevin Dunn, who had predicted the end of earth on Dr. Venkman's TV show in "Ghostbusters II" (if it weren't for the Ghostbusters, he would have been right!), you won't have to wait long: He's in the summer blockbuster "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" as Shia LaBeouf's character's dad, Ron Witwicky.
Credit: Columbia Pictures; Livingston/Getty Actor Kurt Fuller, who played the mayor's jerky aide who gets the Ghostbusters committed in "Ghostbusters II," has kept incredibly busy over the last 25 years. In 2009 alone, he has or will appear in 4 TV shows and 4 movies, including the new David O. Russell ("3 Kings") movie "Nailed," starring Jessica Biel and Jake Gyllenhaal. Credit: Columbia Pictures; Brown/Getty You're more like to recognize actress Mary-Ellen Trainor as the mother in "Goonies" or from the "Lethal Weapon" movies, than you are "Ghostbusters II." She's another veteran actor who's flitted from movies to TV and back. Her last credit was as Jane Andrews in "Cake: A Wedding Story." It was not released in theaters. She was married to, but has since divorced in 2000, director Robert Zemeckis. Credit: Columbia Pictures; Betron Productions |

The acting career of Philip Baker Hall, who appeared in "Ghostbusters II" as the police commissioner, was given a jolt by Paul Thomas Anderson, who cast the character actor in "Hard Eight." Visitors to the Tribeca Film Festival could have caught him in "Wonderful World," a romance starring Matthew Broderick. Credit: Columbia Pictures; Loccisano/Getty The voice of famed radio DJ Casey Kasem is heard in "Ghostbusters." Since his hosting duties on "American Top 40" ended in 2004 (he was replaced by Ryan Seacrest, naturally), the 77-year-old has kept a low profilem mostly just voicing Shaggy for new "Scooby-Doo" cartoons. Credit: Columbia Pictures; Edwards/Getty Jean Kasem, Casey's wife who appeared as one of Louis Tully's party guest in "Ghostbusters," has a had a spotty acting career. She's actually found success as the owner of the Little Miss Liberty Round Crib Company. She holds 11 patents with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Credit: Columbia Pictures; Buchanan/Getty Actress Alice Drummond, who played a terrified libarian in the opening scene of "Ghostbusters," most recently starred in "Doubt," along side Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Credit: Columbia Pictures; Miramax
David Margulies, who played the mayor in both "Ghostbusters" movies, most recently had a 7 episode arc on "The Sopranos" and a brief stint on the cancelled Fox show "Canterbury's Law." You can still catch Margulies in New York working the stage, doing readings.
